Frequently Asked Questions | Smile Magic Richardson

Most families walking into our Richardson office have a few of the same questions before their first appointment. Here are the answers, written the way we would give them to you over the phone. If yours is not here, just call (972) 703-9118.

ABOUT OUR RICHARDSON OFFICE

About Our Richardson Office

Where is the Richardson office located?

Smile Magic Richardson is at 1332 S Plano Rd, Ste 530, Richardson, TX 75081. We are on Plano Road a few minutes from US-75 and in the heart of Richardson. Easy access from US-75 and the President George Bush Turnpike, with free parking on site. If you are new to the area, the City of Richardson is a good way to get to know the community.

What ages do you treat at the Richardson office?

Every age. We see infants for first dental visits, children, teens, adults, and seniors, all in the same office with the same dentists. It is what makes us a true family practice.

Are you pediatric dentists?

We are family dentists who are experienced and wonderful with children, not board-certified pediatric specialists. For most families, that is exactly what they need, and it means the same office can care for everyone, from your kids to your grandparents. Learn more on our children's dentistry page.

What makes your office good for kids?

Our office was designed with children in mind. There is Draw Alive VR, an Arcade, and Video Games to make the wait fun. Paired with our gentle dentist, it helps even nervous kids relax. See our children's dentistry page for more.

What Richardson Families Are Saying About Smile Magic

APPOINTMENTS

Booking Your Appointment

How do I book a first appointment at the Richardson office?

Two easy ways. Call (972) 703-9118 and the front desk will get you on the schedule, or book online through our scheduling system. New patients are always welcome, so get started today. Let us know if you are bringing the whole family so we can coordinate the timing.

What should I bring to my first visit?

A photo ID, your dental insurance card if you have one, and a list of any medications you take. If you have had X-rays or treatment at another dental office recently, bringing those records (or asking that office to send them) saves us from re-imaging unnecessarily.

How long will my first appointment take?

Plan on about an hour for a new patient visit. That covers check-in paperwork, a comprehensive exam with one of our Richardson dentists, digital X-rays if you are due, a cleaning, and a walk-through of anything we find. You will leave with a clear plan if any treatment is recommended.

Can I be seen the same day for an emergency?

Most of the time, yes. We hold room in the daily schedule for emergencies when available. Call (972) 703-9118 early in the day and we can usually see you the same day. Call later and we may get you in first thing the next morning. Either way, you will know on the first phone call. See our emergency dentistry page.

INSURANCE & PAYMENT IN RICHARDSON

Insurance and Payment Options

What insurance do you accept at the Richardson office?

We accept most major dental insurance plans, including Medicaid and CHIP. Bring your card to your first visit and we will verify your benefits before any treatment. Not sure whether your plan is in-network? Call (972) 703-9118 and the front desk will confirm before you book. Our about page has the full list of accepted plans.

What if I do not have insurance?

No problem at all. We offer a dental savings plan through Total Smile Club that includes two exams and X-rays per year, plus up to 30% off dental care all year long. It is a simple way to keep your family's care affordable without traditional insurance. Ask our front desk, or learn more on our about page.

Do you accept Medicaid at the Richardson office?

Yes, depending on your specific plan. We work with Texas Medicaid and CHIP. Call (972) 703-9118 with your plan name and the front desk will verify before you book.

BRINGING THE FAMILY TO RICHARDSON

Bringing the Family

How do you coordinate appointments for a large family?

Tell the front desk how many people, what ages, and any special needs (a child who is nervous, a senior with mobility considerations) when you book. We can often run family members in parallel, schedule back-to-back, or split into two visits if that is easier on you. Worst case, we get the whole household done in two trips instead of four.

How often should my family visit the dentist?

For most people, every six months for a cleaning and exam, the interval the American Dental Association recommends for most patients. Regular visits are the simplest way to catch small problems before they become big ones. We will let you know if anyone in your family needs a different schedule.

Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?

Yes. We offer multiple sedation options to keep visits comfortable for nervous kids and adults alike. Ask our team what fits your situation best.

Is parking available at the Richardson office?

Yes. Free parking is available on site, right in front of the office, with additional parking on South Plano Road. The office has ground-floor access with no stairs to the entrance.
